[url] tags... We have a problem with some urls.

Postby Cyanide Cloud » Mon Sep 07, 2009 8:58 pm

I was responding to a private message in which i was linking to my phunbox creations. The url is

http://www.algodoo.com/algobox/search.p ... rue&groups[]=3&createdwith=0&order_by=date&direction=DESC

The problem is that apparently, these urls are incompatable with [url] tags.

Example:

[url=http://www.algodoo.com/algobox/search.php?query=&try=true&author=cyanide+cloud&title=true&description=true&tags=true&groups[]=3&createdwith=0&order_by=date&direction=DESC]My Phunbox Creations[/url]

I believe it is because of the [] in the middle of the url. This, of course, poses a problem.
I don't know how easy it would be to fix this, but I am guessing it would be really easy. :?:

Example of working url tags.

err...
They would only have to change the BBcode tag identifiers :P
Please excuse my posts. I am extremely stupid.

It would make more sense to change the urls. The current BBcode tag identifiers we have are the universal ones, they are the same on practically everyone forum on the Internet. Also, people would probably be confused,
the BBcode they were used to wouldn't work.

Also, there is a problem with that I'd think. All of the BBcode on the site already would stop working, unless there is a script to edit all the BBcode in everyone post on the site.

i found a fix

just replace [ with %5B and replace ] with %5D

such as this

Code: Select all
http://www.algodoo.com/algobox/search.php?query=&try=true&author=cyanide+cloud&title=true&description=true&tags=true&groups%5B%5D=3&createdwith=0&order_by=date&direction=DESC

well, there isnt any way :? the browsers automatically replace %5B and %5D when they go to the page, so they cant be in the url :? youll just have to do it yourself i guess :|

Would it be possible for a Greasemonkey script to do this?

Yeah it's pretty baked into the phpbb source code.. Which is quite shitty anyway.

Best solution would be a full-blown bb-parser, rather than simple regex dandy-work. But oh well.. It's a hard-knock life :wtf:
