Isometric angles with 3-axis grid

Postby Frank » Mon May 10, 2010 7:22 pm

So I was writing a final paper about Algodoo for my drafting class, and I decided to draw one of the practice figures in my schoolwork using Algodoo to prove it could be done. It went almost perfectly, except for one small issue: when I set the grid to three axes, it was flipped wrong for drawing isometric views. I made the camera follow a rectangle's rotation and had it fall on its side, and once that was done I could draw isometric figures perfectly fine.

Is there any reason why the axes are set the way they are? Unless there is some reason I don't know of, I think it would improve Algodoo's drawing power if the grid would show proper guidelines for drawing isometric views when set to three axes.
Made some cool stuff a long time ago

Nice suggestion, It would be a lot easier to draw in 3D. It would have been very useful for my 3D CNC router.

you need to set up focus points first. i think attraction can do that for you, but i might be wrong.
nice suggestion though

But I've never been there, so I may be wrong.

I like this suggestion.
Btw Isometric drwaings have no Vps. You need them for most other types of 3D drawings though.

attraction can't do it because if there is more than one point the points effect all other points and the direction of your lines (which need to be straight and not bent)

Use different collide sets for different attractions.
