Algodoo Needs To Be Encrypted.

Postby Ken3344 » Sun Mar 17, 2019 5:40 pm

If Algoryx is even going to bother doing anything with Algodoo anymore at this point, can they actually encrypt the website? I mean, most websites are already encrypted in this day and age. (including Algoryx's own website) It's ridiculous how a company can just not encrypt Algodoo; a website has more traffic than their own! :problem: Here's my twitter post about this issue: https://twitter.com/kenlimepie/status/1 ... 9926919168
Hello my name is Kenlimepie. I'm an Algodoo Enthusiast, and Marble Racer. I run a Youtube channel which is about Algodoo Marble Racing, but I am not afraid to design new ideas in this program. https://www.youtube.com/c/kenlimepie

I mean, yeah... Algodoo needs to migrate its servers to HTTPS. Unfortunately, they may not be possible due to resource constraints, I believe. Algodoo needs more money to do so, and I believe HTTPS servers are very expensive compared to HTTP servers.

HTTPS protects accounts and personal information; without it, all of these are in danger, so make sure to back up your scenes and phunlets in case of an attack on the server.

If you are concerned about privacy, create a new email account and link Algobox and Algodoo Forums account(s) to the new email address. If you have an existing alternative email address, you can also use that. (e.g. School or Business)

In case of a data breach, your main email account won't be filled with spam, but your alternative email account will. Also, be sure to have a password unique from all of your accounts so attackers won't suddenly access your other accounts you have on different websites. This applies to all of the websites you visit.

Do NOT put any personal information on your Algobox and Algodoo Forums account, since this website is HTTP, attackers can easily access this information by hacking with ease, and you may be the victim of identity theft.

Sorry if I'm talking about online safety and privacy too often, but I think it summarises it all. Any ideas, let me know! ;)
