Electro-Magnetism

Postby xplane80 » Mon Apr 19, 2010 5:02 pm

I know there is attraction already but that is Newtonian Gravity and not Electromagnetism. I wonder if this is possible to implement into Algodoo.

Also if this can be, can there be an option under collision menu to set if it is magnetic or not.

OHH VERY GOOD IDEA, I SUPPORT IT 100 % :D
And I always liked electro-magnetism ! I think the truely magnetic attraction has a cubic falloff, and it could exist a new propertie to set eletric and magnetic properties of matter, including: check boxes, to active the eletro-magnetism and choose some magnetic properties (diamagnetism, paramagnetism ....).
I support, but I think this can be hard to do and very complex to create.

since gravity and electromagnetism falloff the same you can simulate the poles with positive/negative attraction+collidesets

Magnetism needs electricity to work properly, and vice versa. As I said in electricity thread, implementing it is possible, but there are many programs created to simulate electric circuits and magnetism.

Some "looks like magnetism" thing does not fit in physics simulation, and the full implementation of electromagnetism could be very complicated and cpu-intensive.
