It uses a raunit and has a stuck detection system so it will try to free itself by reversing a bit.

I think it follows all the rules for "hardcore"

Hardcore prohibits the use of more than 2 motor hinges - and max torque is 4k n/m each. you used 3(RAunit2 included)

That was indeed correct. It's getting a spot in the Open division for now, though.
And no, RaRaMalum, autonomy is not necessary and I never intended to give that impression. It's pretty awesome, though.

if I replace the motor on the raunit with a laser it would be ok for hardcore?

No more than two motor hinges in the whole machine. I'm not saying you can't use one of those motors for your stabilizer (or any other thing you might want on your car), but it isn't supposed to be easy to use that sort of thing.

I forgot that there was several motors on the raunit(a bit tired).
I'll see if I find a way around it that isn't a loophole.

Frank, i'll think youll find that jaxc's entry uses 4 motorised hinges therefore only elegible for the open catagory.

My new entry.

I couldn't make the raunit without hinges unless I used "loopholes", so I made a new design.

This one has the selfhelp features from the last one and now it changes shape to help itself over the terrain.
Its still automated, so just watch.

Thanks for pointing that out. I just looked at the power on the wheels and assumed that was it. I should have looked more closely or made the connection about asking if you could use motors in the suspension. I'll sort everything (including a grade for RaRaMalum's new entry) out some time tomorrow, gotta go to class now.

I'm making an entry for this but for some reason the launcher at the end does not work like it is supposed to. I'm pretty sure that there is a breakable hinge or something that launches it. Every time I run the scene, the console prints -- Warning: FixJointEntity::AddToSimulation had body not in sim

It doesn't seem very important but I thought I'd point it out. BTW this happens on my mac, OS version 10.5.8 running Algodoo v. 1.6.0

The launcher at the end doesn't work for me either (Algodoo 1.6.0, Mac OS X 10.6.1).

My worm follows all of the rules for Hardcore but my "fake" entry abides by the Open rules.

@RaRaMalum: It doesn't react very quickly, but it was really cool to see that thing bend depending on its angle. I was very impressed with the AI on that thing. I never expected an entry anything close to that shape to succeed under Hardcore rules. Very good job.

@Standardtoaster: The bendy snakey car is cool. Possibly not a good idea to make it autonomous because it could never get across without getting stuck at least once. It was certainly fun to watch though, jiggling and flopping along. It was cool to watch it almost get stuck but just bend and slide to a less precarious position.
The wheel with a stick isn't OK, though. Sure it collides with water, but there's no water in the whole course. So it may as well not collide with anything. No external non-colliding parts.
EDIT: I thought I had added in the ban on non-colliding external parts for Open too. I have now. Sorry about the confusion

I am pretty sure my entry follows all of the hardcore rules. At some points it may get stuck for a bit or flip over and over several times but it fixes itself eventually and goes to two wheels on the ground.

@Alex/Synthro
That's one of the most awkward things I've ever driven, and its constant-on motor makes it hard to drive. I think the suspension is a lot more complicated than it needs to be. It is, however, very good at righting itself. That's good, because it's hard to avoid flipping.

Sorry about the automatic control. I forgot to turn those motors off and leave it to key control. I may redo the suspension. Is it ok to redo the suspension and reupload it to get a better placement?

Yes, and in fact that's brilliant. I may go and do something similar to my own test cars. It's too long by about 2cm, but if you tilt it 15 degrees it fits, so I'll let that pass. Updating leader board.
