Another one!
You will keep on trying to make it better won't you?
Well, just 4 days before the second contest is out and this one ends!
I can assure you, the second one is going to be very hard now!

LOL just having a little fun ;)
Looking forward to the next challenge :D

Oh you know I had to do it , right?
If you are going to test something TEST it

It just amazes me that the ballistics in the sim are accurate and repeateable enough to dial in this shot, much less that the weapon repeats spot on

F to fire , fire immediatly after sim start for best shot
The aim is insainly touchy at this range

1100 hz works best for me, your results may vary have fun
and I hope you are patient and have a fast comp 8-)

Ha, such a long wait, 50 KMs :wtf:

I am sure you know this is physically impossible to throw a projectile (without fuel giving it a boost [i.e not a missile]) that far!
Yeah, my computer is fast, but even at 100% simulation speed, it took nearly a minute to destroy the castle!

 The WW2 16inch naval guns could shoot 38km
The unobtainium 0 air friction projectile is the key that and my system is accellerating
the projectile for about 250m, so its kind of like rocket propelled ;)
Much higher velocitys and range are possible while conforming to the rules of this contest
The gun was unmodified from my second place entry, only the aim was changed.
PS I thought it was a good shot
This is planet Algodoo many impossible things happen here :wtf:

I had no Idea about the that! That is one new fact for me.

Well Yeah, you can call it a part rocket!

Gent wrote:Much higher velocitys and range are possible while conforming to the rules of this contest

Yeah, but not to the real rules (Laws) of Phisycs!

Gent wrote:PS I thought it was a good shot

Oh, but it was a good shot, just a bit too far away.

Gent wrote:This is planet Algodoo many impossible things happen here :wtf:

Exactly, where else can one thing simply vanish on touching another!!

Apart from that, I won't be having access to the Internet for two days , so all the entries will be rated only after the end of this competition.

Actually, modern artillery pieces with modern ammunition can have an effective range of around 60km!
(Thinking of the FH77BW L52 Archer with Excalibur ammuntion, that thing's a beast!)

Hi NilsMolinder, go to your scene in the main scenes thing
in the lower left corner you will see a scene tag and a blue box that says COPY
click on that box, it will look like nothing happened.
Next come back here and make a new reply something like "here is my entry" or whatever
add any discription text you want then hit enter to get to a new line, then right click and select "paste"
This will post the link to your scene here its easy ;)
PS thanks for defending me LOL

Here's my entry (Old):

THIS IS MY NEW ENTRY! I added a little power (as far as I saw reasonable) and made it re-loadable.
It's also pre-sighted and has a frequency change option, more about the scene on the scene.

And thanks for the help Gent. :)

No problem glad to help ;)
Its not a loophole to to do crazy things with springs,
when a spring is first created its strength is based on the mass of the objects it attached to
and the length is based on the original length
If you click on the spring and drag the sliders all the way to the right for an example and close the
spring value window, the next time you click on the same spring you will find the max value you just
set is now in the middle of the slider :wtf: crazy I know but thats just how it works and is not a
"loophole" :lol:
Ps Nice weapon

Well, to close the window and keep sliding the slider I would call a loophole, using mass and length I would not. But I guess you're right, that wasn't really that much of a cheat, just seemed a bit high ;)
And thanks :D
Edit: Did you try the recoil dampener or loose barrel feature? You kinda need to increase the strength of the dampener springs after I increased the propulsion of the projectile, but other than that it's pretty nice. Might want to increase the density of the base as well :P

I think it was a very nice gun, I didn't have the patience to zero it in on target, but I really like it! Simple and yet effective! :)

Yeah, I updated it!

Gent wrote:So, when does the new one start?

Sorry to say, but you will have to wait a while before the new one starts. My computer got infected by a virus, damaging the bootfiles, thus forcing me to format it :problem: . You will have to wait until I re-download Algodoo, and then re-make the scene!

Have you seen the protect the castle contest? I had made one solution myself, and it survived all the guns, apart from yours! The gun was very effective.

Someone Else had made an entry earlier, but it didn't work in the 1.8 version.
Now I checked it in 1.9.7b and it worked well enough.
I decided not to disturb the Highscores, but his scores are:
Range: 40
Efficiency: 50
Consistenct: 10
Creativity: 15
Total: 115 out of 125 (92%)
Comments:
Good weapon, has an excellent range, excellent aim, and very good damage. Just it lacks in enough creativity!
Had the Beta of Algodoo 1.9.7 been released earlier, he would have held the Third position in the contest!!
Congratulations!

I should've increased the spring strengths, but I figured using mass and such to do that would be kinda loopholing, seems I was wrong ;)

Thank you. Third place... wasn't expecting that. Again, thank you for posting this. Now, for the New Contest! Time to do exactly the opposite of what I have just done!
Matthias Wandel is epic, in my humble opinion.
I love my brain...

Recently, I discovered something a lot of you probably already knew: Minecraft is awesome.
Due to this, I may not be as active as usual for a while.
