The Domino Machine
http://www.algodoo.com/algobox/details.php?id=48393
The idea of this contest is to create a machine that will take dominoes and set them down in a row so that they can be toppled again.
The machine will move to the right and lay down dominoes-hopefully, without them falling down.
Rules
-No scripting/thyme is allowed
-The machine must fit within the opaque red box in the scene
-The domino used must be the one included in the scene
-The machine must lay down at least 20 dominoes.
-The dominoes can be loaded into the machine in any way.
-There can be no values outside of the slider values.
Scoring
Scoring is out of 100 points.
1. Speed- does it take hours or seconds? Maximum 50.
2. Accuracy- how many times (average) do I have to restart the scene for it to work? Maximum 10.
3. Creativity- was a lot of work put into it? Maximum 25.
4. Lag- does it slow down my computer too much? Maximum 15.
Contest ends Sunday November 22, 2010
Judging should be done by November 23.
Everything in the scene should now be fixed. Sorry, that made me look like an idiot.

Re: Domino Machine
the dominoes needs to be higher or narrower as they don't work as dominoes as is.

Pfew, I must say the first version of the dominoes were a lot easier to handle and place, the new thin ones are terrible unstable. But I'll do my best!

I agree they're now to tall. I looked up some actuall mesurements for dominos and 1 x 5(as in 5 times taller then their thickness) seems like a good scale.

Re: Domino Machine
It is actually brilliant for your first contest.
I have seen so many crappy contests, but there are obviously still some good ones.
Shame this has been done before D:

Re: Domino Machine
Here is my first entry. It's far from perfect, but I'm able to put half the blocks down without them tumbling over. They're unstable as hell, you can't afford any speed or angular momentum when placing them, or they'll drop.
I like the contest, great idea, although it might be a *bit* hard with these narrow blocks

Re: Domino Machine
You know what, rescale the dominoes to whatever size you want as long as they work as dominoes. I'll work a ton harder next time I make a contest, again, I feel like an idiot.

Well, no need to feel like an idiot at all, I think it's a neat contest!

Well, Zevv, you seem like the only entrant, so you win by default. Congrats, I still like your scene- had the dominoes been more stable it would have been an exellent solution.

Re: Domino Machine
I know I am a bit late, but this is my entry. It's not particularly clear what you mean by the "machine" when you say that it must fit in the red box. Yes, I know, this is probably a loophole, but just let me know if I should double the complexity of the machine to allow it to automatically eject the empty cartridge and replace it with a full one.
By the way, I had to scale and change the restitution on the dominoes so that they wouldn't bounce out of place.
One more thing-
THERE IS NO REASON TO FEEL LIKE AN IDIOT!!!!!!!
Chronos, please don't snap at me.

Matthias Wandel is epic, in my humble opinion.
