Save the Townsfolk!
Save the Townsfolk Contest
Objective:
The people of Dam Town are once again in danger of total destruction! The dam above their city is breaking and the water is rushing at deadly speeds straight towards them! Build a contraption to rescue the inhabitants of the town and bring them safely behind the walls of the Flood Shelter. The fate of these incredibly oblivious and idiotic people is in your hands!
Rules:
1. Must fit inside the white box, but it doesn't necessarily have to start inside the box.
2. No text editing.
3. No Scripting/Thyme!
4. The simulation must start exactly where I left it in the original scene.
5. If the townsfolk are touched by falling debris or fast moving water, they are considered dead, and don't count as being saved even if you manage to get them to the safe zone.
6. You may not edit anything on the scene.
7. READ: All entries must be a response to the scene posted below and posted in this thread, or they will not be judged.
*Note* It is recommended that you build your contraption in another scene and import it, as you wont have time in the actual scene to do any live tests or anything, as the dam breaks almost immediately after starting the simulation. Also, most things in the town are simply background and will not interrupt your progress. The only movable things are chairs and people.
Judging:
You will be judged mainly on how many people you can save. Here are the specifics:
People Saved- 50(5 points per citizen that is successfully transported past the safety wall)
Points will be deducted if your contraption isn't consistent. I will run it a few times and if it saves everyone some times and doesn't save everyone other times, that will be taken into account.
Comfort of Citizens- 30
Flinging the citizens around in potentially fatal ways will cause point deductions. Try to make your contraption as comfortable as possible for the people.
Controls- 20
The more simple, the better. Completely automatic controls is a 20, but if you cant do that, the more simplistic your controls are, the better.
Bonus: Creativity/Originality: 10
You can earn up to 10 bonus points for the creativity/originality of your contraption.
So it's out of 100, with the highest possible score being a 110/100.
For those of you that are new, this is a re-imagining of a previous contest about saving citizens from a dam, but I decided to recreate it in Algodoo because it's a fun and user-friendly contest everyone can participate in, unlike most contests on here that require you to be a complete veteran to even participate. So newbies, don't be afraid to post your scenes!
ENTRIES MUST BE POSTED BEFORE FRIDAY, SEPTEMBER 11th. YOU HAVE 1 WEEK.

Citizens Saved: 50/50
Comfort of Citizens 10/30
They were pretty much just mushed together, ran over, and flung around. There were sure to be some injuries from that. In a real life simulation that wheel would have probably smashed all of the citizens!
Controls 14/20
I liked that the vehicle controls were automatic, but I would have liked if you could find some way to make the wall automatic. Timing the wall perfectly took 3 controls and required perfecting timing to stop all the water flow. Still, pretty simple.
Bonus: Creativity/Originality: 2/10 Making a giant wall and blocking all the water while you slowly push all the citizens towards the safety isn't really creative. Still, the retractable wall was kind of creative
76/100
MAKE YOUR SCENE A RESPONSE TO MINE!

Re: Save the Townsfolk!
Glitchhater's Entry
0/50. None of the citizens got to the shelter. Now they're just trapped in an arm and covered in giant purple balls.
Comfort of Citizens: 25/30 Well, nothing really happened to the citizens. They weren't saved, or thrown into some crazy lethal contraption, so they were pretty comfortable. Still, they're covered in purple balls and that was sure to have smashed some of them, not to mention they're pretty annoyed that you covered there town in a wall, blocking sunlight, killing all their plants, and possibly stopping their oxygen lol.
Controls: 17/20 1 button, then you're done. Still, you have to time the wall perfectly or it wont cover the whole town, and actually smash some citizens.
Creativity/Originality: 1/10: Creating killer balls is unrealistic, cheap, and pretty random. In all logic, if they have the force to stop a flood, they'd kill the citizens as well, and of course they clearly covered the town. Still, creating a mine must have taken some thought. Too bad the thought didn't go far enough to actually build something to save the citizens and complete the objective!
43/100
=================================================================================
Citizens Saved: 0/50. Once again, no attempt was made to get the people to the shelter, as the objective stated. All you did was destroy the water will an unrealistic death box. Yeah you save the town, but that wasn't the objective. The objective was to get the people to the shelter
Comfort of Citizens: 30/30. Nothing happened to them.
Controls: 20/20. Automatic. Perfect controls.
Creativity/originality: 1/10. Once again, stopping the water with a huge unrealistic wall and a killer box isn't really creative at all, and you didn't complete the objective.
51/100.
Again, MAKE YOUR ENTRIES A RESPONSE TO THE ORIGINAL SCENE.
TheLonelyPhotographer is the one to beat right now by default pretty much, as his is the only scene that actually brought the people to the damn(lol pun) shelter.

Alright, but I have to give you a small penalty for it being your second entry.
Citzens Saved: 50/50
Comfort of Citizens: 20/30 No erratic smashing, but they were still just flung together into a massive pile, and just because you write "Really comfortable"(lol) doesn't make it so. Some would have been smashed by the weight of the others, and others would suffocate under the others. I would have suggested a spongy material if you really wanted to make it comfy.
Controls: 20/20.
Creativity: 1/10. Pretty much the same thing The Lonely Photographer did, just piled them up in a big scooper, and you still used a wall, which is weak and uncreative by now.
91/100 minus second entry penalty of -5.
86/100, so you're still in the lead right now with auto controls and a slightly more comfortable ride.

Re: Save the Townsfolk!
No, there is a setting that makes things "killer". Still, using one will get you very little to no creativity bonus. This being my first contest, I used the "bonus" category to stop loopholes like that which I didn't find. Still, these entries are giving me some great ideas for what changes to make if I choose to make another natural disaster contest.
