NEED HELP (honeycomb rims)
i didnt know where to post this so i posted it here
i am making a 1978 pontiac firebird trans am but im having difficulties with the rims
i managed to make some crappy snowflake rims but they look very strange when you drive
i was hoping to make rims like these
but when i try the hexagons dont fit onto the pentagon i always get spaces in between the hexagons (i used karatebots polygon creator for the polygons)
i cant figure out how to solve this
any help with this matter would be greatly appreciated

just set 5-axis grid and draw not perfect hexagons.

Re: NEED HELP (honeycomb rims)
If you can script, you can spawn a geometry by inputting in the verticies of the geometry and typing something like scene.addPolygon({--attributes and verticies go here--}) into the console or something like that. That would take FOREVER, though.
Or you could kindly ask me to make some rims for you-- I have algodoo, got it as a Christmas present
Also, remember to put a texture on the polygons when you're done so that the edges stay crisp-- otherwise the corners will be rounded.

Get algodoo demo, draw it, copy-paste into phun.
or
Get svg2phun, draw it in any vector-based editor like inkscape and convert it into phun.

Did you send him a link to *cough*Pirate*cough* Algodoo?
If he mysteriously starts uploading scenes with Algodoo...
Unless you bought him Algodoo but anyone that would do that would make it as public as possible.

Re: NEED HELP (honeycomb rims)
no, algodoo is one of the programs i will never pirate, especially considering i have already bought a licence, which i am able to prove as i still have the invoice saved with all my licence info and everything...
I was going to tell hime how to reinstall the demo and get the trial back...
Which i don't see as being wrong as long as he is going to buy a full license later.

Except it's still illegal and you could easily be fined by Algoryx.

Re: NEED HELP (honeycomb rims)
actually, just remembered something more on the legal side.
due to the location where algodoo stores the time setting, all you need to do is create another user account on your pc, and the new account will have the full trial, and when the trial is up, you can just delete that account and if really needed, create a new one.

Re: NEED HELP (honeycomb rims)
I know what's REALLY legal! Just get TC42 to make them and post them on Algobox! And give him credit!

I don't want to embarrass you, but that is a pentagon, not a hexagon. Not only that, the sides are not equal
EDIT: Here is the code:
This is a perfect hexagon.

Re: NEED HELP (honeycomb rims)
Hi, if I want to spawn my own hexagon, how can I set the surfaces:=[[[ ],[ ],[ ],[ ],...,[ ]]]? I feel very confused about these numbers, so what is the basis of them?

Re: NEED HELP (honeycomb rims)
The numbers are the vertices of the polygon.
If you put in surfaces := [[[0, -1], [1, 0], [0, 1], [-1, 0]]], you should get a square, rotated 45 degrees, and scaled so it is two meters high.
For some reason, it appears that even for a so-called "simple polygon", Algodoo will create about thirty vertices at each apparent vertex. Methinks this could be optimized.
I think that the surfaces array has each coordinate enclosed in three sets of brackets because a polygon can have holes in it.
[[Outer Polygon Coordinates], [Hole Coordinates]]
[[[x, y], [x, y], [x, y]], [[x, y], [x, y], [x, y]]]

Matthias Wandel is epic, in my humble opinion.

Recently, I discovered something a lot of you probably already knew: Minecraft is awesome.
Due to this, I may not be as active as usual for a while.

Thank a lot!
