How can I make an object have a specific Rad/S

Postby ToshNeox » Sun Feb 28, 2010 2:05 pm

Is there something that I can do so that i can make my circle (with a motor) spin at a specific Rotation per second? Rad/s? Some way I can type in into somewhere, and is there a way I can make another one spin at the same Rad/S but reversed?

Ya, you can. Normally the motor is RPMs not RPS-esssssses, but there is a way to turn it into RPSssss, it's called math. Just multiply the RPMs by 60 or divide the RPSssssseseses by 60, simple. In advanced mode you can delete the number in the RPM slot and replace it with your own number. This tutorial section is for tutorials, you want to put this in the help section.
I am Alpha and Omega, the beggining and the end.

No it's not 60. The factor is π/30.

rad/s ==> RPM:
30/π * revolution speed

RPM ==> rad/s
π/30 * revolution speed

This is correct but to get into good practice, do 60/2π instead of 30/π

OK, right;
1. I'm so sorry for not putting it in the tutorials section!. You just give me a tutorial on how to answer my question :lol: !
2. Now I'm really confused, somebody said you were wrong? What do I multiply by what?
3. And what are RPsssssessese? Use English please :roll: .

I only asked to get a specific Rotation a second on an object! :mrgreen:

Oh lol okay.

First make sure you have the advanced menu enabled in the options.
Make an object and a hinge
Make the hinge a motor
Select the motor and go to it's scripting menu
Now in the "motor speed =" line you can define the rotation in rad/s
If you want to apply the rotation in RPM just go to the hinge menu and change the motor speed there.

those two are the easy ways to define rotation in rad/s or RPM.

Thanks very much. But what do you type in: 200 rad/s - 200rad/s - 200rad?

The tutorials section is for posting finished tutorials, not asking for one. The help section is there for you to ask questions.

Actually on Phunland The tutorial section was used all the time for these sorts of problems. In my view i love these topics.
Questions asked, Questions solved.
Just like a normal tutorial but spread out over a few posts, if some one was wondering how to make something have a specific Rad/S they would still find this and it would still answer their questions.

Fair enough Mystery. To be honest, I've asked my question, you've answered it. No-body has been harmed (except the people who hate questions being asked in the 'Tutorials' section :lol: ). So...

I only hate questions being asked here because it's really confusing.

I thought this was the Tutorial section but apparently it's the 'ask questions because I need help' section. My bad.

That is the secondary use of the Tutorial section. It has always been that way so rather then bitching about why don't you actually contribute to the conversation.

Fair enough but I did not know this. When I began using Algobox every-time I saw a thread like this it ended up being closed or complained about so I assumed that it should not be used in this way.
