materialVelocity is like placing a conveyor belt on an object, except instead of perhaps ten thousand balls to get to a far away destination, you can have one object

And just to let you know, when you have a conveyor belt going left:
object →
← Conveyor belt

So, you may want to use negative values if you want to go right
