Data Entry Tables In Algodoo

Postby barrti » Fri May 28, 2010 10:42 am

Greetings,

I'm an algodoo newbie. I'm interested in using Algodoo for Engineering education. Is there a way to create data entry tables where Algodoo prompts the user to input data. Once the data is in, the algodoo conducts the simulation. An example would be for a swingarm suspension. The data entry would be swingarm length, spring free length, spring constant, pivot co-ordinates etc.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Yes you can do this with variables. You can use the command windows (~ tidle button or § button) and type in the variable value by hand e.g.

scene.my.swingarmlength = 1.3
scene.my.springfreelength = 8.91
scene.my.spring constant = 0.05

If you want a User-Friendly Interface, then you would have to build a computer inside algodoo but this very difficult and pointless for what you want. You use a dial system were the user turns the dial and what ever number the dial is on, that is the variable value.

He asked for a table. You have to use arrays for that.

Arrays are the next best thing.
Since table would be next to impossible, it is the best thing.

Sorry when I you table, I thought you meant you needed a system that was in a table and not something like an array. Arrays are good because they will take less space and less variables. Array can be complicated but they are good.
