Is there any way to bypass this?

Is there any way to bypass this?

Postby Altro » Sun Apr 25, 2010 3:39 pm

Sorry for the title, but its hard to explain.

Im trying to make a "advanced" object (a object with springs, hinges and more than one object) spwan by using a simple method, I just copy the adv. object and post it into notepad, then i get rid of the comment and scene info, and paste the resulting code into a onCollide box. The problem comes in when the code is long, eg when I try this with the triroller phunlet, the oncollide box gets rid of most of the code. Is there any way to stop this happening?

TL;DR

Simple: When I paste long code into onCollide box, it gets shortened and the onCollide breaks, how do i stop this from happening?

Does the code have line breaks in it, or did you remove them?

If it has them, try removing them.

Or there could be a limit on the length of an onCollide statement. We'll have to see. But I'm thinking it's that and not the line breaks. Line breaks shouldn't do anything, and since there's so many in there already, it cutting off after a couple hudred lines or something it more likely... Some kind of bug.

Try pasting arbitrary stuff in there and see how many lines it will take. Change up the text and try again. If it's the same max number of lines, submit a bug report (because it's definitely a bug).

Actually, it might not be a bug. Would you want 10,000 lines of code on a slow computer? Methinks it's a way to prevent lag from over-the-top scripting.

Well, if someone in the know could get an answer, we'd have one now wouldn't we?

I tried the pasting arbitary stuff, and it seems to be diff lenght of lines, although this could be due to use of proptional length fonts, rather than monospaced ones
