Naming collideSet for use with lasers?

I saw this one gearbox design that used lasers to change collision layers. I looked at the script menu of the "gears" and they were given names in the collideSet box; scene.my.gear1, scene.my.gear2 etc. My question is, how do I do that?? I try to type into that box and give it the same name, but when I press enter it just deletes it all and goes back to 0.

Tutorials 1-2, also, when using variables to supply a objects variables, wrap it in {} in order to ensure Algodoo knows to keep it updated.
