how can we get a stabilize and light chaindrive

About advanced scenes, and the Thyme scripting language used in Algodoo.

how can we get a stabilize and light chaindrive

Postby epsilon » Tue Jan 25, 2011 12:44 pm

as we know, chain's density and stability its a direct relationship, but how can we get a light density chain but stabilize and strong?

for example,I made a offroad vehicle, drive by chain, but when output power is higher, the hinges transformation and drafted, when we increase density, its too heavy, even more heavier than the engine itself.

is there any ideal to make a stabilize and light chain drive?

Yea, it's a big problem. We've discuss it many times.
So recommendations is:

1) Scale up
2) More density
3) Less objects
4) Auto-brake hinges (not help much)
Dream of Algodoo as game development engine...

Chain to transmit power in Algodoo isn't recommended. Usually, I use connecting rods type of transmission like on old locomotive but with mutiple rod instead of only one. It transmit power very efficiently in Algodoo and is really easy two do, but its not really graphically real...

Oooo...we have chaindrives now? Damn me for being gone a year. I miss all sorts of good stuff.
I do stuff and break things. You know how it is.

Yes, we have chain drives. We have had them since Phun 5.28. At least I made one in 5.28.

To Make A Chain Drive:

Make two high-friction circles, each center-hinged to the background.
Wrap a chain around them.
Or, get creative with sprockets. Note that smaller sprockets actually require smaller teeth, because the default chain is just fail that way.

But yeah, four-bar hinged drive shafts are probably the best possible option in Algodoo. C-Gears at a close second.
Matthias Wandel is epic, in my humble opinion.
I love my brain...

Recently, I discovered something a lot of you probably already knew: Minecraft is awesome.
Due to this, I may not be as active as usual for a while.
