Can't see the toolbars
Hi
After installation, Algodoo start fine but I can't see any toolbars or icons.
I'm running on Windows 7.
Thanks

Re: Can't see the toolbars
I would delete all the files, then uninstall it and re-downland.

Before going through the trouble of uninstalling and reinstalling the program, I would first try pressing the TAB key and/or the F11 key. TAB will toggle the toolbars, and F11 will toggle Windows mode. Please post if you still have problems.

Re: Can't see the toolbars
I doubt that will work, the UI elements are there but missing the frame, and the tab-interface hiding key doesn't hide the main menu window. jocedage post your log file, I bet there's an error or two in there

Re: Can't see the toolbars
If you don't already have the latest drivers for your graphics card installed, maybe installing them could fix the problem.

Re: Can't see the toolbars
Please attempt to update your graphics card drivers from your venders website!
If this doesn't fix the problem, please see my quoted post.

The usual attempt for a fix at graphical issues is to try blindly enter the following into the console (open with the tidel key, the one below ESC) and paste the code in with CTRL-V and press enter and restart algodoo, or add the following to the end of the config file in My Documents:
- Code: Select all
GUI.useBuffering = false
Please reply with whether the issue has been fixed, and if not, please upload a copy of logfile.txt from my documents!

Fixing it
I just had the same problem, fixed doing this:
I went to my graphics properties in "left click on desktop -> Graphics Properties -> Advanced -> and then set 'Texture' to 'Balance' and 'Vertex Processing' to 'Application'. And it worked!!

Re: Can't see the toolbars
What GPU are you using?
There are many GPU chipsets that should technically be capable of running algodoo without any issues based upon the technical specifications they state. (I'm looking at you Intel).
Sorry for the late reply, lots of stuff going on, but I've sorta made a few connections in this issue, which relates to a few other programs.
Lets all blame Intel GPUs.

Re: Can't see the toolbars
DON'T use that guide, the method of updating the drivers in there will NOT work.
I have a feeling that article was wrote by an ex-linux/mac user, who is used to the system actually having a decent driver source...
Please visit the Manufacturer of your GPU (aka, follow that tutorial, but skip the steps 4-6, and ignore the step about opening the properties on step 3).
The drivers provided by the update facility, are drivers which are slightly optimised then the old generic drivers used in windows XP (possibly Vista too), which allow users to use the proper display resolutions on a new install, however, they lack the proper support for openGL (the core system for rendering in Algodoo) and hardware acceleration, and as a result will produce low performance, as well as issues like seen above, which may be fixable by the proper drivers as provided from the manufacturers.
