"Algodoo.exe has stopped" error message.

I currently use v2.1.0b12, but this problem also occurred with previous versions. Whenever I download and install a scene from Algobox when Algodoo is currently launched and running, Windows pops up an error message that states: Algodoo.exe has stopped working. The message gives me options to check on-line for a solution, or to Close the program. I usually select Close the program, and then all is well after that. So, this problem is only a minor nuisance but it probably should be fixed some time. I run Windows-7 on a desktop with plenty of memory and a good 3D graphics card.

My recent logfile was created after downloading a scene from Algobox. I got the usual error message as mentioned above.

So, does anyone have any idea what might be causing this?

I've noticed for a long time that whenever I load a scene from Algobox, it appears like Algodoo goes through some sort of "reset" or possibly a total restart. So, maybe this problem is normal functioning.

DOES ANYONE ELSE EXPERIENCE THIS PROBLEM? PLEASE COMMENT.

I don't seam to have this problem, but in your log file, it appears to load up the new scene, and perform the internal pre-rendering, but then just stops.

My only guess is to attempt to run
Code: Select all
System.RecreateWindow

Which should trigger re-rendering, and see if that causes any problems, and report back to us.
But, other then that, I can't think of anything.

electronicboy -- I ran System.RecreateWindow in the Algodoo console, and the Algodoo window changed size and shifted its position, and then the program locked up. I was not able to click on any of the tool bar items. The only thing I was able to do was to close the program. Does this give you any idea what might be happening?

Here is a copy of what was printed in the console window after I entered that System.RecreateWindow command:

Seams like the issue is caused by algodoo attempting to re-render the scene.

I will point emil directly to this topic, I can't say when he will look into this, as I feel it may be GPU related.

All I can really suggest, is to check for Driver updates, and maybe consider uninstalling them and trying a older version (e.g. Ones off a support disk that came with the computer).

Just to be sure: this is when you download a scene in your browser? Does downloading the scene from the Algobox browser inside of Algodoo work?

Anyone else experiencing problems when running System.RecreateWindow in the console?

Hi Emil,
The problem occurs only when I load scenes through my browser. It does not occur when I download scenes from Algobox directly through Algodoo. I even tried a different browser. I use IE (currently version 10) most of the time, and I tried Firefox to see if the problem was related to IE, but it also happened with Firefox.
