Change in mass of a polygon.

If you have problems installing or running Algodoo, have found a bug or need in-game help - this is it!

Change in mass of a polygon.

Postby Xray » Sat Jul 01, 2017 5:55 pm

Do the following while Algodoo is NOT running.....
1. Create a polygon of any shape.
2. Go into the Material section of the polygon and make note of the object's mass.
3. Liquify the polygon.
4. Go into the water "Information" section and note the changed mass (often much greater than the original polygon!)
5. Freeze all the water.
6. Again, go into the Material section of the polygon and make note of the object's changed mass (often much greater than the original polygon!).

Why? Is it a software bug?

Tried to replicate this, I used a different method though. I cloned each result and used the clone for the next step where appropriate

First: I made a 1m² square
Object mass is 2 kg
Object density (calculated) is 2 kg/m²

Second: Liquified the polygon
Water information says water area is 0.990 m²
Water mass is 0.990 kg
Water density (calculated) is 1 kg/m²

Third: Freeze water
Object area is 1.207 m²
Object mass is 1.086 kg
Object Density is (calculated) 0.8997514499 kg/m²

These values make sense to me for the transmutation of an object into water and then that water into ice

I tried to replicate this by cloning the box 8 times on itself before applying the test method

8 Boxes,
Object mass 16 kg
Object area 8 m²
Object density (calculated) 2 kg/m²

Liquified
Water area 7.917 m²
Water mass 7.917 kg
Water density (calculated) 1 kg/m²

Frozen
Frozen area 1.511 m²
Frozen mass1.360 kg
Frozen density (calculated) 0.9000661813 kg/m²

I believe this is a configuration problem.

I'd rather be network computing.
