Collision V8 Help!

Postby vaidas369 » Fri Nov 06, 2015 11:52 pm

So i've tried something new and yes i hit a wall.
There something wrong with timing and engine it self is very unstable.

Could anyone come up with some ideas to fix it?

I haven't built a collide engine in next to forever (they're sort of like the spawn engine's older cousin? ), but I guess I could give it a go.

Well, first of all, the timing is way off. The cylinder's collideSets should get changed at the very top of the cylinder (aka top dead-center if you know steam engine terminology really well). However, this changes the collidesets before this point, and when the engine is at high rpm the pistons sometimes don't change collideset at all which causes complete engine destruction in this case. It's kind of like "knocking" in a real engine if you know what that is.

Also, this engine has very little inertia so the revs are very jumpy. Also, surprisingly, spring-based rods are better here because they deal with torque at low speeds better than geoms do. Spawn engines have more power in the mid-rev-range and geom rods do well there.

WTF are those spinning box things attached to the pistons?
