If you have problems installing or running Algodoo, have found a bug or need in-game help - this is it!

Moving Shapes to Back?

Postby mangopolis » Sat Mar 07, 2015 11:08 pm

Okay, I am relatively new to Algodoo, but I have everything figured out, except..

I CANNOT FOR THE LIFE OF ME FIGURE OUT HOW TO MOVE SHAPES BEHIND/TO THE BACK OR IN FRONT OF/TO THE FRONT!

I HAVE GONE THROUGH ALL OF THE TUTORIALS, SCOURED THE WEB, BUT I CANNOT FIND OUT!

The only reason I know it's possible is because I've seen people do it in videos showcasing their Algodoo creations. Any help is appreciated, thanks.

1 - click the shape you want to move until a menu pops up

2 - go to "selection"

3 - click "move to back/front"

4 - be happy

if he's seen videos of other people doing it, then he should be able to do this himself. I'm wondering if there is some underlying problem that he may not be aware of. some explanation of what he is doing and what he is getting would be very helpful.

If I am making a truss, and want to connect a member to an existing non-fixed axle vertex, often the end of the member will appear behind the vertex. I did work out how to move it to the front as described, so that I can place a new axle.

However it would be helpful to have a keystroke combination to move objects back and forwards without having to go down into the selection menu.

If you wanna be really precise you could use zdepth in the script menu, it's the last item there. Just increase or decrease the number to move stuff forward/backward.
