How do you have an axle acting as a connecting rod?

Postby Alex_Mercer » Wed Jan 28, 2015 7:07 pm

I am a newbie on Algodoo- I don't know anything about thyme, nor super tips and tricks. But one thing keul that I've seen, is that people using an axle to transfer energy to a wheel instead of using double join schmid couplings or gears or springs. When I try to do that with an axle, the wheel always tries to stick back to the original position, instead of staying at its own place with the axle stretched. Plus, I guess you can combine the trick with some brake function to make it act like a clutch, and also allows suspension without any obstacles- pretty keul!

Here's the example; notice how the dude joined the engine with with front wheel with an axle without having the wheel slapping back to the engine>http://www.algodoo.com/algobox/details.php?id=70765

Any help on how to do it? Thanks, and have a nice day! :D

less is better - no force between hinges on stretch, but it doesn't really matter e-6 or e-10

Thanks a lot man! That sure is an epic trick for me. Before that, I had many problems trying to transfer energy from stuff, so I decided to quit inventing stuff until you saved me.

Please check out my profile, and see me putting that trick to good use!
