Error collision solids and hinge

Postby Excalibur921 » Fri Dec 19, 2014 2:17 pm

I model the mechanism of the cam. Properly designed mechanism is not working properly because of falling through two rigid bodies in one another ... Here is an example, to change the spring force or the amount of cargo it is impossible. It is necessary that the two bodies are facing were absolutely rigid and without friction (couple cam follower). Tried in Phun, where the intersection of solids correct, but trembles hinge ... In Algodoo wrong intersection hinge does not tremble. In Algodoo comes just two errors:
1) hinge changes its position.
2) Wrong intersection of solids.
How to fix?

Try increasing the sim frequency, increase the size and the density of the objects is also a common practice. Algodoo/phun do not like dealing with thin object collisions.

“increase density” Thank for help.

sim.frequency = 200
In console or via GUI: Optinos -> Simulation -> Simulation frequency slider

You could increase the density of the cam or the plate, or both. Raising sim frequency like Kilinich said will also help.

Or you could just use a crank. Crank and cam work similarly but cranks work better because you have no surface-to-surface contact.

Also, you could change solver for collision (to avoid penetration)
Sim.directContactSolveAll=true

Thank you all for your advice.
Sim.directContactSolveAll = true
sim.frequency = 300
The most effective solutions. Now I synthesized mechanism steps correctly.
