Hi

I have downloaded Algodoo v 2.1.0

I am using Windows 7 and have confirmed that the driver software (ATIRadeonHD3200Graphics) is up to date.

My problem is that when I open Algodoo I can see some writing, "Hello and Welcome etc"; three boxes, (Set up, Tutorials and Lessons) and not a lot else, ie no icons for tools. I can see from some screen shots on this site that I *should* be able to see 6 toolbars around the screen. On my screen although the functions are present, the toolbars and icons that represent them aren't.

Yesterday I tried the methods listed in the FAQs. If I click on options (I have to put the cursor on the screen just to the right of where it says "file" and click and I can access the options even if I can't see the where it says "options"). Then click on rendering, I only get two options: 1) Draw axles/fixjoints when running 2) Max anisotropy (5). So there is no option to uncheck "Enable anti-aliasing through shaders" as suggested in the FAQs. So next I tried F10 and typing: Resources.forceGLUBuildMipmaps = true and then pressing enter and restarting Algodoo. Whilst I was able to do this final stage, when I restarted nothing had changed - still no icons.

I understand that I need to put the last few lines from the logfile.txt here. I have three logfiles "Logfile", "Logfile_previous" and "Logfile2", I'm gonna go with "Logfile".....

hello Beemurphy, if you can attach the entire logfile to a post that would be great. the lines you posted are not helpful to resolving your issue, the important ones are near the beginning (but probably not in the first 15 lines)

Please post a copy of the logfile.txt as found in My Documents/Algodoo/

Also, you have updated your drivers from the AMD website, and not vai windows update?

Also, in the AMD Catalyst Control Centre, could you ensure that all settings in the game are set to "application", sometimes creating a profile for Algodoo and playing with the settings a little does help. However, this is performed at your own risk, I will not be held responsible for anything that occurs due to changing settings from the default/recommended values.

I've done a notebook check of your graphics hardware and it's a mid-low range class 5 video chip. Also, your graphics driver is reporting OpenGL 2.1 which does meet the minimum requirements, however the HD 3200 is considered to be an onboard graphics chip, and I've heard several reports of manufacturers building down to the dollar instead of up to the specification for onboard graphics. also, if you're using Windows XP, the 3200 a very poor chip because XP doesn't use 2d acceleration

Technically, your machine should be able to use that GPU and work fine in algodoo, but for some reason it isn't.

My advice would be to go here, and see if any driver updates have been released for that chip:

The OpenGL 2.1 requirement I discovered usually is the minimum requirement, however, it seams that some manufacturers aren't implementing the OpenGL 2.1 implementation properly, and as a result is causing issues with games like Algodoo rely on.

oh derp. now I see it. I totally missed it the first, second, and third lookthroughs for that information :oops: (I wanted to verify that he was or was not running windows XP)

I've downloaded a gpu update from the suggested link and all seems to be working fine for me now. I can see all the icons on the page.

Same thing happens to me. I am running on Windows Vista Home Premium. Help!!! :problem:

Please go to the AMD website and download the latest drivers for your card!
According to the specs of the card, the latest version of openGL support is 3.3, however your card is only saying it supports 2.1.
When asking for help, READ THE STICKIES!

Can I please ask why you have a bad attitude to this suggestion?

If your GPU really only does support 2.1, then you have the issue of 2.1 being on the verge of algodoo supporting the GPU. Some cards run algodoo fine with openGL 2.1, however if your card does support openGL 3.3, you will probably require more recent versions of the drivers because later versions actually dropped some calls and the rendering framework won't know how to deal with this, this is why I suspect your drivers are outdated.

I have the same problem too. My PC is running in Windows 7, with Service Pack installed. The Algodoo is running on version 2.1. This is what's happening to Algodoo: http://i.imgur.com/wllZis8.jpg. And here's the logfile:

Intel G41 is the reason why.
Try to update drivers from intel site.

or

Get good videocard with openGl/shaders support (nVidia recommended)
Dream of Algodoo as game development engine...

The intel Gxx's don't work with Algodoo, best thing you can do is pick up a cheap card from somewhere, or email Algoryx support and ask for a link to last version before 2.1 and licence key.
Intel GPU support is crap at best, intel GPUs are designed to provide a desktop, anything more than that and you're going past the design intentions.
