toolpot462 wrote:edit - I actually got it to work. The same exact process. Not ten minutes ago, I put a square on a point in the grid, rotated it 45 degrees, and placed a circle directly above it. The result was that it would fall to the left every time. So I took the square and repositioned it to see if rotating it did in fact displace the center. It worked. What I actually find irritating is that I can't reproduce the same faulty result with the same exact process (rotate square, place circle above). It works every time now. I don't get it, honestly.
working with the grid is difficult, because a single object has five different alignment points, not one; center, top, bottom, left, and right. if you create an object on the grid, and move it around, then you only notice one, because the other four are already lined up with the grid, however if you rotate the object then the alignment points change. when you move the object, it is possible to misalign the object because of the new alignment point locations.
also, if you have an object selected you can move it by a single pixel by pressing the arrow keys (the distance moved is dependent on the zoom level) when the scene is paused

I challenge you to make a better physics engine, with the technology we have available. The developers have actually been very good at updating, with only a slight bump from 2.0.2 to 2.1.0, and that was because they were working on moving Algodoo to another platform.

In case you didn't notice, "Algo-doodoo" isn't the "real world". It is a simulation. It's not going to be perfect. There are no atoms to repel other atoms, no gravity or inertia to move things. It is all code, and a lot of it. In any application, there will be bugs. With every update to the program, every addition, bugs will still exist.
The way that Algo-doodoo is censored tells me that the forum moderators put that in as a joke. It doesn't replace it with **********, it replaces it with *Algo... oummph, I swallowed my tongue!*, which just sounds like something someone would say to be funny.
Whatever happened with your contest, if you acted like this, I can understand how other people may find you to be slightly "noob-ish".

If I acted like: complaining about the software, receiving personal attacks, and reciprocating the behavior; receiving helpful replies, expressing gratitude, and trying to work toward solutions to problems that I admitted to overreacting to. Hell, now I've received more snide criticism on a topic that seems to have already been resolved, and I'm still defending myself, gosh darn it!
In case you didn't notice, I was being ironic.

Similarly to electronicboy, I also needed to vent, as your post was very frustrating.

Well, I'm sorry about that. It seems we're all human.
Now let's drop it.

Also, I wasn't exactly in a great mental state when I wrote that post.
I was mostly annoyed at you saying that algodoo is uncapable of everything, with no proof.
It took a long time to even get one scene file off you, but let's drop that topic for now.
Also,
As I said, I wasn't exactly in a great mental state, I suffer from depression, and it does manage to put me on the edge alot.
