[SOLVED]Increase length of text line in Console?

Postby Xray » Fri Feb 01, 2013 7:48 am

When I open the Algodoo console, there is a broad black space that opens and extends the entire width of the Algodoo screen, but the comments for some of the commands and variables seems to stop about one third of the total width. So, some of the comments get cut off.

For example: waterReflectiveness = 1, default = 1. Independent of refractive index, the reflectiveness gives the...
As you can see, the text gets cut off and "..." is placed after the last displayed letter.

Is there any way to widen the displayed text area so that I could read all of the comments text?

BTW - I can enter long strings of text from my keyboard, and they do extend the entire width of the screen if needed. It is only the stored comments that Emil (or whoever wrote those comments) originally wrote that I cannot read.

For your information, I am running Windows-7 with a fairly good graphics card (NVIDIA GeForce GTX-580).

Thanks!

console.maxcharacters, if you make that bigger, you will be able to see more
Basically, there are only 10 types of people in the world. Those who know binary, and those who don't.
Light travels faster than sound. That's why some people appear bright until they open their mouths.

Wow! That fixed my problem! THANKS!

Now that brings up another question.... HOW DID YOU KNOW THAT? Is there a list of commands like that one somewhere?

Thanks again!

Just press tab then console is opened. You can type few charters and press tab to see available variants of commands.
Dream of Algodoo as game development engine...

Yes, I knew about tab for listing the console commands, but I never thought of looking there for increasing the size of the console text. Instead, I searched through the forums where I can often find answers to my questions.

Thanks to monstertje3 and Kilinich. 8-)

I would be willing to work on it if I were able to, but I'm not qualified. I believe it would require someone with EXTENSIVE knowledge of Thyme script, and also have access to the latest updates and additions.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but wouldn't the best person to update all those Thyme commands be the developer (Emil?), or someone else who works at Algoryx? Not only are those people most knowledgeable, but they also are the one's who will benefit financially. The more people who learn about and use Algodoo and Thyme, the more money the company will make. So they have a vested interest in making sure that the public has access to the latest and most accurate information.

I'm sure that very few people in the Algodoo community (including me) want to spend potentially many hours of labor updating those commands. I see that gradyfritz is the one who originally wrote that thread with all the Thyme commands and variables and comments, but even he admitted that there may be errors or omissions in it because a lot of it was based on his own memory and experimentation. That's another good reason (in my opinion) why it should be updated by someone who has accurate and up-to-date information.

What do you (or anyone else) think about this?

EDIT - I suppose this is getting off-topic, and so this discussion should continue in one of the other forum topics. Thanks!
