1.7.5 Perfomance degrate

If you have problems installing or running Algodoo, have found a bug or need in-game help - this is it!

1.7.5 Perfomance degrate

Postby Kilinich » Fri Aug 13, 2010 10:37 pm

1.7.5
This scene http://www.algodoo.com/algobox/details/33340 shows 100% realtime in 1.6.0 and only 7% in 1.7.5
I suppose something wrong with script performance, maybe it can be tuned up somehow.

Debug window ("-" on keybad) shows 7 FPS and all time waste on "Tied up".

-------------moved up---------------------

I've make test scene with circles and dynamic color.
64 circles, color = {[1,1,1, 0.5 + sin(sim.time*10)/2]} (flashing white)
Look into info screen "-" on keypad.

Phun 5.28:
58FPS  , up to 40% time is "Tiding up", 40% sleep

Algodoo 1.6.0:
58FPS  , up to 48% time is "Tiding up", 40% sleep

From Algodoo 1.7.1 (and up to 1.7.5) :
30FPS  , Tiding up 92%, no sleep

no no, I just check new version with my scenes (because I know better what they do and how they should work) and sometimes I just can't find simpler case.

Something wrong with script performance, definitely.

A plane and a circle gives me 2.5% real time. FML
I already reseted the settings, and reinstalled Algodoo, as well.
edit: This was after my brother messed with my graphics settings, let me try to fix it

I'v done some major script optimizations for the next version of Algodoo, which will also make scene loading a lot quicker (up to 10x times quicker in some cases).

And thus did the god Emilk descend from the heavens, and he said unto his followers:

It's nice to have an active admin again.

 You make me laugh.

And I notice that nobody gets mad when an admin bumps a topic. Is it just me, or does this seem a little unfair?
Matthias Wandel is epic, in my humble opinion.

Recently, I discovered something a lot of you probably already knew: Minecraft is awesome.
Due to this, I may not be as active as usual for a while.

Wow, I might be able to play Kilinich's (and Dare's, and Wild Bill's, ect) scenes in real time!

Are the physics still the same, or have they been optimized as well?

It's because the bump actually has a good purpose.
Millions of voices suddenly cried out in terror, and were suddenly silenced. Something terrible has happened.

Well, I was thinking about yelling at him, but decided against it. Normally, yelling at someone higher up than you isn't really a good idea, even if you aren't serious.
