When I first loaded the scene and started Algodoo, I tried to figure out what was so special about it. It simply looked like any other scene with a texture added to the planes. But then I moved a box around with the camera following the box, and WOW! I then was able to see the 3D effect! Nice job, FuitMonger!
Thanks, s_noonan.... Yeah, I wish I had something like this when I first started learning about the textureMatrix. It was a confusing mystery until I spent much time "playing" with it to see how the changing values affect the image.
Okay, I started Algodoo.... NOW WHAT????? Am I supposed to press a key or somthing? A scene is not complete without instructions. Are we supposed to GUESS what keys need to be pressed in order to make your scene do something????
s_noonan - Good job! I use a keypress detector invented by Kilinich that uses two lasers per character, but your's is simpler and uses only one laser per character. Two thumbs up!
Fun to play with! I made an array of small circles (10 X10), separated slightly wider than the width of the snake, and I moved the snake to the middle of the array to see if he (or it) can get out. At just the right combination of frequency and amplitude, he/it can slither his/its way out! It looks eerily life-like at times!
s_noonan - I must have a different version of Algodoo than you have because I do not see a widget titled Scope Display. All I see in the scene is a box with the word Scope written on it. My version of Algodoo is V2.0.2 b15. Am I missing something???
EDIT : I did what you said about right clicking on the green box, but I do not see any reference to plotting. Maybe that only shows with the enhanced (more expensive) version of Algodoo?
Okay, now getting back to the scope display, I do not see a widget titled Scope Display. I do see something on the right side labled "Visualization", and when I click on it, there are tabs for selecting various forces to view, but nothing called "Scope Display". I could right click on the green box, and yes, I could set up a scope to view the waveform, but I'm wondering why I do not have a widget called Scope Display. HELP!!!
s_noonan - thanks for your reply, and I apologize for being such a pest. I am having a problem with the upgrade because after closing Algodoo, it reverts back to Algodoo Physics. When I enter my name and license key, it upgrades to Algodoo Education, but then it reverts back to Algodoo Physics again after I close and re-open the program. I posted this question in the Forum, so maybe if I can get this problem solved, then the other problem of not having a Scope Display widget will correct itself (?).
EDITE - I uninstalled and reinstalled Algodoo, and now it opens as Education every time! (Hurray!). BUT.... I still do not see that "Scope Display" widget that you refer to. I can use the scope by right clicking on your green box, and I can visualize the waveforms, so even though I don't have that widget you talked about, I can still use the scope display.
By the way.... Nice job on this scene!
Now do another scene that demonstrates Frequency Modulation!
UPDATE: After I re-installed Agodoo, and then reloaded this scene, I now have the Scope widget showing up! So, apparently, I just needed a nice clean re-install to make everything work correctly. (I wonder if I could do that with my wife????)
I totally agree with all of the other comments. This looks like it accurately emulates quadrupedal motion, and that's not easily accomplished. Very impressive work!
Steve - In each of the polygons that make up the wrench, you have a local variable named "_stress". Where is the script located that calculates the value in those variables?
EDIT - Nevermind! I found the script in all of those tiny hinges that connect the polygons. Clever design!
Not quite as clever as Kilinich's melting ice scene, but still pretty darn good on its own merit. Kilinich uses script that no one else knows anything about, and so he has an advantage over everyone else. (The fact that he's a freakin genious probably helps too!) Anyhow, nice job as usual, Steve!
I pressed Enter as instructed, but nothing happened. I then realized after playing around with it that I needed to press and HOLD the Enter key to make it scan. You did not explain that. Other than that, you did a good job. Also, I agree with what Kilinich said. It would be awesome if you could add more controls and features to it.
