Overall, nicely done.

I was able to reduce the noise and instability as seen on the plot by increasing the sim.freq to 100Hz. Any further increase did not make any appreciable difference.

Also, I'm not a gear expert, but based on my limited (and possibly inaccurate) experience, I believe that the meshed gears could be tightened up so that the teeth mesh closer, which may also improve efficiency and the noise figure. I also know that how tightly you can mesh gears is very limited by Algodoo physics, which may prevent such action.
Thanks for the feedback. I experimented with changing the size of the planetary gears using polyTrans and can't seem to make it any better.

I experimented with a pinion and one ring gear and found that slight clearance gives the smoothest action. This makes sense to me because it limits the number of collisions and gears with slight clearance still maintain the same rolling action and velocity ratio. At any rate, the gears are now set to precise (within 0.000001) line on line meshing with zero clearance.
The planetary gears seem to mesh more smoothly and precisely now. Good improvements!
Fantastic!
Works like real automatic gears!
Great
Thanks for the help and compliments.
They still skip teeth at high speed but definitely better than Algodoo gears, AKA AlgoPoop.
Yes, I noticed that the planet gear hinges stretch at higher RPMs. I'm not sure how to stiffen up the hinges.
Good luck with that:bonk: :bonk: :bonk:
Stretchy hinges at speed has almost ruined Algodoo for me :'(
There is NO real world situation that happens in other than almost
barely measurable flex :bonk: :bonk: :bonk: :bonk:
In Algodoo it is a nightmare and completely ruins any attempts at
high speed reciprocating engines:mad:
If you can figure out how to fix this BS problem WE will all be in
your debt_o_ _o_

Feature? that's not a feature that's a PROBLEM )|(
PS I have been bitching about this for years now;)

This is the kind of gears Algodoo should have built-in! Original ones are barely usable.
