A small experiment to see if it's possible to give the illusion of depth to a 2D sidescrolling scene using chromostereopsis. The desired effect being the blue background appearing to be sunken about a centimeter or two into your screen, with the foreground hovering over it. It also looks pretty eerie as a bonus.
