Made in Austria, these polymer, striker-fired semi-automatic pistols were once ridiculed for their appearances and construction. "it's a block" "It's Ugly" It's plastic. It'll never be able to fire more than a couple dozen rounds without breaking." The list of insults goes on as the new pistol made its way into the marketplace. But it was soon discovered that this pistol is safe, easy to use, and incredibly reliable. In fact, there are no external safeties, but the pistol is safer than most other pistols that HAVE external safeties. It's less finicky to operate as such, with no levers or grips to hold or flip. It's so reliable, that over 10,000 rounds of ammunition can be cycled through the system, and the only error it may potentially have is a failure for the magazine follower to push the slide catch up, as a result of spring exhaustion.
With all of these features and bonuses, as well as a high magazine capacity, the Glock is adopted as a common sidearm for many law enforcement and military forces around the globe.
TO USE: Drop the slide (either by pulling back and releasing the slide, or by dropping the slide catch), and pull the trigger with enter/return or drag tool. IF USING DRAG TOOL: be sure to drag the safety lever instead of just the trigger. Otherwise, the trigger won't move.
TO DISASSEMBLE: clear the weapon of ammunition and remove the magazine. pull the trigger until the striker drops. hold the "D" key, and pull the slide back slightly, until the takedown tab moves downwards. While still holding "D", move the slide forward off the receiver, and set it down. remove recoil spring and barrel. |
