I imagine you got this idea from me? Lol
lompilomp, that's not a new idea, I've used it for a silly algobot5000's contest on a piston spring engine, and I think that squirl also did
and we're not the first ones by far
Very cool and interesting design:tup:
The crossed hinges would totally eliminate the need
for the top set of C gears if you use Bend !
also use bend instead of autobrake on the spawn cams
ANY brake in Algodoo slips some every revolution no mater
even if you have it set @ +INF strength BELIVE ME on that;)
I have been trying to modify this scene to show this
BUT it very much depends on how the core hinges are made
to start with on what you can do to modify them:bonk:
I am by no means an expert on bend but I will try and make
a tutorial of my LIMITED understanding of the concept ;)
May take me a while:lol:
Hopefully one of the REAL wizards here will chime in IE Killinich
and save me the trouble;)
Sorry I don't post much any these days but I check in everyday;)
I feel incredibly stupid asking this, but could somebody explain the "bend" thing to me? I've seen it mentioned a few times on here but I have no idea what it is. )|(
Bend is a torsion spring.
bendConstant is the torsional spring constant (N/radian).
bendTarget is the spring zero deflection position with respect to the two connected geometry angles (radian).

The maximum torsion spring torque is limited by the motorTorque setting.

There is an analogy with a linear spring (torsional - linear):
Bend - Spring
bendConstant - spring constant
bend Target - target length
