Funny thing, I was thinking on making (actually asking someone to make one) something like this but forces are pretty hard to script for my thyme level.
I BEG you to make a scripted differential that can spin fast, please! I nned some thing like that for a little truck i have done ;)
There's a problem with gears 3 and 5. They engage in reverse and they accelerate the motor. Other than that, good job on the scene.
The Linkage,

It took me a while to get this far. I am going to give it a rest for a while before I attempt to improve operation.

Xray,

Each gear works OK when the circles start out in the zero position. If they start out in a random position it may screw up. I thought it was only 5th gear, but I guess there's more.

Anybody may improve this scene and describe the improvement below or submit it as a scene response.
Before I start my car and get ready to drive it, I have to make sure that the wheels are in their zero position, and the crankshaft is at zero degrees, and the car is facing due north, or else the car will travel in a random direction.
Yes, something like that. Looks like it needs a synchromesh system that allows changing gears when the input and output circles are in phase or near zero.

That doesn't sound like a trivial task, but if anyone can do it, I believe that YOU can (not that you would WANT to do it!) :)
Wow, you did it! Good job.

Only one minor glitch that I found (maybe two): When I switch gears to N, the motor gets stuck and will not rotate. Also, while in N, the readout shows a gear ratio of 0.001:1, but of course it should be 0:1. (That might be due to round-off error in the floating point math.)
Yes, I don't handle neutral too well. I used 0.001 to eliminate a divide by zero error. It's not right. I'll have to think about it.
You going right way!
I'm also trying to make digital differential... :y
Kilinich,

Thanks. Feel free to use anything you see.
