This is the slide of a Glock I made just to demonstrate the function on the pistol's short recoil system. I haven't implemented any firing system yet, or grip/trigger/etc. Put the slide, barrel, and partial grip frame in the back to see the action. Demonstrates the action beautifully at .01x time. This scene runs at a very high frequency! Anyways, let me know what you guys think and comment ideas and suggestions. I'll be making the complete pistol later on. I just decided to place this scene up after watching some YouTube videos incorrectly demonstrating how Glock pistols work. Thanks!

I always bother with the same things just because noone cares about them. one of those are frequency, which in your scene is pretty high!
You can make a gun to fire and extract with 100 or 150 Hz. I don't have much practice on guns as I've made four or five but the secret is trying to refine the mechanisms!

Also why the scçhell is ejected forwards? That seems weird for me
Hey, Linkage. I've made lots of guns in Algodoo/Phun, and the main thing that allowed them to advance is increasing the frequency. I noticed that the projectiles wobble (or even go through the barrel!) in some scenes, and I wanted a realistic system as well as accurate projectiles without having to decrease the velocity or suffer accuracy. This gun will operate at much lower frequencies (tried it at 150), but the projectile goes insane outside the gun. I find it's actually harder to make guns at a higher frequency cause I'm a stickler for accuracy with the guns, so I increase the frequency to compensate for the high velocity and bullet weight. Oh, and I'm unsure as to why the brass is sent forward. I suppose it is because of the Restitution of the brass and the ejector cause the brass to bounce forward.
UPDATE: The reason the brass goes forward is because the slide is going forward faster than the brass is being ejected and is being pushed forward.
It doesn't really "work" at 150 Hz. I mean this because most people doesn't care about if the round spins after it gets out of the muzzle, but yes if they have got lag.
A solution for the round and empty shell getting shot back from the cahmber is the too insane strenght the spring has.
The main problem of increasing frequency is lag, as you may know
I meant 250Hz, should have corrected that, sorry:P Anyways, I fixed that problem earlier with the spring and the brass gets sent backwards now. I'm not quite sure how to make it more reliable with lower frequencies other than just beefing up the parts to prevent physics glitches.
EDIT: The gun begins to function flawlessly around 550Hz, so its still unreliable below that.

Hi Scooter - One thing that I have done on my copy of this scene is to make the slide transparent (or about 20% transparent) and then I can see the extractor and other internal components as the mechanism is functioning. Something you might consider.

I own a Glock 17 and a Glock 26, and so I know quite well how the action works. One major issue with simulating guns with Algodoo is scale. I'm sure that you've found out by now that you cannot make a gun function reliably when the physical size of the components are made to factory specifications (e.g., make a 9mm bullet actually 9mm). And so we end up making handguns that are a meter long!

Nice work so far. I'm looking forward to seeing and firing the completed gun.
Thanks, X-ray! I actually got some inspiration from my Glock 23 for this one:P And I'll consider making it transparent. Lots of more work to do on it still, but I hope it turns out. Thanks again!
