Note: This scene coverts water to mud on starting and resets water on stopping. Don't exit the scene without stopping it first or your water may be messed up. If you are reading this because your water is messed up, then start and stop this scene. If all else fails, then you can reset Algodoo.
Controls: W,A,S,D,up,down, left, right. Click on the vehicle (excavator or dump truck) you wish to operate.
dump truck:
up,down - raise,lower bed
left,right - reverse,forward
I still had excavator on the brain and my last scene was getting too complex. My original intention was to make something relatively simple and easy to use. This scene is an attempt to do that. Also, Kilinich seemed to take exception to the fact that the original scene was not hand drawn. This one is hand drawn and I think you will find it hard to tell the difference between the drawing and the real thing.
Rev A - Removed counterweight.
Rev B - Mud was dirt.
Rev C - Made wireframe interior clickable.
Rev D - Dump truck now has controlled acceleration and deceleration.
Rev E - Improved mud.
Rev F - Added bulldozer.
Rev G - Added sound.

I'm not sure what happened. It worked on my PC, but it stopped working after I reset Algodoo. I could see that scene.my.x was undefined. I set scene.my.x and things seem to work OK now. Let me know if it works for you. I'm not sure if it is fixed for good because I'm not sure why it broke to begin with.
Well, it does work now, but I'm not sure if it's working correctly. When I select a particular joint to move, it moves as expected, but it doesn't "unselect". So, when I select other joints, then they all seem to move together, and it's confusing as to what keys move what joints.
I learned a long time ago that whenever I upload a scene, I always immediately download it to make sure that it works as expected. There have been times when a scene would work on my computer, but would not work correctly when others download it. Usually that has something to do with sim.time, but now always.
You don't need to select joints. The arrow keys determine the x-y movement of the bucket hinge. W and S adjust the bucket angle. A and D move the excavator forward and backward. The only clickable items are the excavator or dump truck in order to select one or the other.
I'm in the habit of checking scenes right after I upload them and this one worked OK. It only stopped working after I read your response and then reset Algodoo.
Thanks for the feedback. I'm disappointed that 150 people downloaded a non-working scene. Hopefully everything will be OK now.
It all seems to work now, but there are a few picky things that are not correct (IMHO). They are:
1. When the excavator is selected, the A & D keys control its movement along the road. But when the truck is selected, now different keys (left & right arrow keys) control the truck's movement along the road. I believe that you should keep the keys consistent with their type of control function.
2. At first it was not clear to me what part of the vehicle needed to be clicked when selecting it. It's natural to want to click in the middle of a large feature, such as the cab or the body. But since your "simplified" version of the excavator and truck were made with drawn lines, I soon realized that I had to click on the drawn lines in order for the selection to be made. It might be good to add hidden circles or boxes on each vehicle as click targets.
Concerning your comment about 150 people downloading a non-working scene, that is a common condition across the board. That is, people either don't want to get involved, or they are afraid to speak up when they see something that isn't right, or they are just plain too lazy to take the time to say anything. I'm totally the opposite. I'm usually the first person to speak up when I see something that I feel is not right, whether in Algodoo or in real life.
Regarding #1, I'm going to stick with using the arrow keys for the dump truck since I consider them the primary movement keys. I understand your reasoning, and it makes sense, but I choose to do otherwise.
Regarding #2, I'm not going to do that one either because 'm lazy. I already have the excavator balanced for climbing purposes whereby if you extend the boom all the way out it will tip forward and help when climbing up a block. I don't think that Gent will be able to climb directly into the truck though.
Edit: After thinking about suggestion #2, I find I really like it because it doesn't change the apparent simplicity of the vehicle while making selection easier for the user.
I don't blame you at all for not wanting to modify or add things to an existing scene. There's a point that you reach when you just need to say, "Enough is enough!".
Q: How did you make the mud?
A: The code is in the light green box (at position [6.8, 23.3]) that is in the control box.
Q: And how do I reverse it?
A: Stop the scene and the mud reverts to water. If you exit the scene without pausing it first, then your water will be screwed up.
