This is the realistic but hard way to make a gearbox. This type of gearbox shifts when the engine gets to certain RPM rather than when the car gets to certain speed, making it much better if you have an engine that gets weak at high RPM, but is strong at low RPM. It can be adapted to almost any engine.

If your gearbox doesn't work well (gears overlapping, etc) try increasing density of the parts.
