A few months ago, I made a scene of a couple of geometries that I stuck together in such a way that they acted like a bird flapping its wings. I started playing with it again, and wondered what would happen if I made a large flock of birds. Well, the result is quite interesting!
When some of the "birds" collide, they combine and start flapping like a larger, more chaotic bird. And sometimes when they collide, they split apart, and the body will go one way, and the wings might go a different way, or one or both might get stuck to some other birds. Also, when some of the birds run into a plane (there are four of them) the birds might shoot off as if being shot out of a canon! After a while, the scene resembles billiard balls colliding into each other. It's quite interesting to watch.
You can get different patterns by rearranging the birds before starting Algodoo. I spent a long time playing with different initial starting patterns, and some of them create quite surprising patterns!
MORE: I discovered an interesting addition. I colored each group of birds a different color, so the four groups are Red, Green, Blue, and Yellow. Now the scene has another interesting perspective. You not only can see the different movements of the birds, but also how they combine their colors with each other.
This scene is becoming a SCREEN SAVER!
