Fully mechanical music making device. Because Algodoo has no sound, you obviously can't hear it, but these are my plans for a device that would work in real life. I want to see who can tell me the melody that is hidden inside it. Enjoy!

I can't figure out the melody, but I can see that you made a very nice mechanical device. Nice work!
I tried. I created script to print the collide position out to the console along with the time. I then plotted position vs. time in Excel and tried to play it on the guitar. I then generated a note list and tried a look up on musipedia. I then generated the parsons code and tried looking that up. My best guess is that it is the Algodoo (or Phun) theme song.

Nice work on the mechanism.
s_noonan - I tried picking out the melody on my guitar too, and it sounded like Bohemian Rhapsody by Queen.
Hahahaha. I'm really happy that both of you tried to figure it out, but i'm afraid its not the Bohemian Rhapsody or the Algodoo theme song. I will say that there is notes that I added and made up to lengthen it, but the first 28 notes are a recognizable melody. ;)
Well, after picking out the first 7 or 8 notes, I've determined that the song was written in the C natural minor scale. But without knowing the TIMING of the notes, and the spaces between the notes, it's almost impossible to determine the exact song. I was thinking it might be "Scarborough Fair", but it doesn't quite fit the note pattern. Can we get any hints? ;)
The name of the song is "The Inventor Song" created by TheInventor and recognizable by, you guessed it, TheInventor.

Okay. Hint. it's part of a score writen for a movie, You can figure out the timing of the song by measuring the spacing between notes. Remember though, because the note prongs are offset, each note pin must be measured from its prong. try using the protractor on the note disc to help measure. ;) I really want someone to get it.
You could spawn the notes on a staff below the amulet and have them drift to the left at a constant velocity. That way users can see the music the amulet is creating.
But then it wouldn't be a challenge. ;)
I suspect it would still be a challenge because Xray and I have seen the notes and we still can't guess it. I would think that whether you modify the scene or not is a matter of personal preference. Either way this is a great scene.

Thank you. :) That makes me think though. I should make some kind of musical scene with a moving score. Hmmm. any ideas?
Okay, my last guess. Since you mentioned a score for a movie, and earlier I was thinking that it might be the theme music from Skyfall, so that's my guess. Am I right?

Sorry, no, but ill give you another clue if you wish. The song is in 3/4 timing, and the notes come on the first and third beats. Example C - D Eflat - F G - Aflat G -...
excellent mechanism:tup:
Great mechanism

I figured out the notes and the melody is stuck in my head, but I do not know what song this is.
All the melodies that I can think of that are in a three beat feel that are in a minor key are Greensleeves and Scarborough Fair.)|(
