This is my second water works, heres what you should do,

If you look to your left you will see a water compressor, =P compresses to 1/10 b4 you start the water works you should erase the water in it

Now to start make a moderate sized box in the dam area, and liquefy it. Almost everything is self automated But i decided to add a little control into it so I added a Water gate, It automatically stays open but it can be closed by HOLDING LEFT ARROW KEY
