This shows how a Virmel engine works. It is for demonstration only and does not run by spawned circles. Feel free to modify or turn into a "real" engine. It is presently being powered by motors in the small gears. To create a powerful engine, you may have to replace the gears with Kilinich circle gears.

Very nice
I cant see this style of engine being truly viable in the real world but it is a cool concept ;)
2 Gent.

What do you think would be the limitations? I suspect sealing and the gears would be limiting factors. I like the idea that it has few parts and is a compact design.
Sealing is the primary concern not to mention a high parts count.
As a machinist I see this as just a concept that will never go anywhere:blink:
But you did a realy nice job of demonstrating the idea
Thanks for the feedback. Machining is not a problem in Algodoo land. If you use the grid to make a box, it is the correct size, parallelism, squareness, and flatness to better than a micron.
Yep, that is exactly what I start with.
But trying to make powerful fast motor from it I've com to this
http://www.algodoo.com/al … ails/60522

List of problems for original one:
1) on high rpm hinge stratched and gears stop colliding so you need outer gear
2) on high rpm/force gear (even circle gear) can slip and system will be out o sync
3) low torque due to small movement of swing pistons
4) low rpm due to compex mechanic for transmitting collision force

I spent a while watching it and it eventually made me feel dizzy!
10/10
2 Kilinich: Thanks for the feedback. You saved me and maybe others some time trying to do what you have already done. I gave your scene a 10 now that I know the thought and effort that went into making it (and also the fact that it works well).
