At the peak of the medeival age, the longbow was the deadliest weapon. Mastered only by the english, the longbow was deadly with draw strenghts of up to 200 lbs, which can peirce the best mail from 100 paces away. An average English army would be 2/3rds archers and the rest men-at-arms.The archers would stand infront of the men-at-arms, shooting at opposing forces, then when the enemy came too close they would hide behind the men-at-arms.
