The original concept was made by DavidZ (I'm pretty sure).
I have updated it with thrusters and tried to make it controllable.

Controls; Engine, left key. Up/down, up/down keys.

This isn't very good and i'm sure it can be improved, so feel free to try edit it.

Great idea _o_
Thanks, i'm going to have to improve it more before it has a effective use, since Lift increases with the square of the velocity, and take into account a stalled aerofoil once the angle of attack gets bigger than about 15degrees.
you should change the control keys, up arrow= forward, lest arrow= counter clockwise, right arrow= clockwise. that would be more similar to most 2d flight simulators.
Most 2d flight simulators use up/down arrows for elevator control, and a key other than left to go forward (Like shift or a letter key)
Thanks for using my idea! Using thrusters surely make it more controllable, less messy, and easier to understand.

This particular plane needs more air friction on the rear.

If You want, look at this scene:
http://www.algodoo.com/algobox/details.php?id=51772
for mechanical solution for making lift more speed-dependent.
