Nothing fancy, just an idea for a gun. It solves a few problems with regular oscillating hammers:
The return stroke travels at a faster speed, so the bouncy block does not need an enormous bounce (mine uses 100 bounciness, and the balls are VERY accurate, powerful and fast) meaning less chance of random explosions and jams.
With the short stroke being so fast, you can apply a single shot trigger, with a fast response, and you do not have to have a mechanism to hold the bullets in place to avoid having several falling into the barrel, because there is only time for one to fall in.
As far as I know, the only other way to achieve this motion is to use springs and a rack and pinion, or something similar, which can be unwieldy due to the springs.
This is also a demonstration of fast return linear motion.
Credits to Bozar for the fast return mechanism. I didn`t get the idea for this from it, but it definitely saved me alot of time making my own.
