Hello again, I`ve got some new gear for you. New gears, even.

Includes:
Four involute gears with different sizes but matching teeth arranged in a gear train.

A really nice pin-drive gear (upper right.) The gear profile is cycloid with semi-circular gear lands, and yep it actually drives a lantern. Looks funky.

Finally, "sun-planet" epicyclic gear trains demonstrating the three different modes of operation. (In other words, a ring gear -- the teeth are on the inside of a ring -- with three gears running around inside it.)

(Again these gears were made with the aid of my python script: see my forum post in Scenes for more information.)

Oops -- the lower left epicyclic gear train wasn't running: turn one of the hinges into a motor :)

Ohh kind of phunlet i like, The epicyclic gears kit, do you have examples of the uses? By the way thanks Gave a 4!.. Oh i even the ball-bearing are at friction 0... i gave 5 !:P

The epicyclic gears are for turning low torque high speed into high torque and low speed, or vice versa. I think.

You can use it to make your own gears.

The bearings are kinda interesting: I absolutely had to have them: the ring has to rotate, but can't fall to the ground. I love how Phun is rich enough to create real engineering problems like that:)
