This is an updated version of my recent bowling game.
How to play: After the scene loads, press the simulation RUN button (You can also tap the Space Bar on your keyboard). At the beginning of each frame the ball will place on the center of the lane just behind the Foul line. You can adjust the position of the ball along the foul line with the Left and Right arrow keys before launching it toward the pins. Finally, launch the ball by pressing the Up arrow key.
A thank you goes out to user ploters who mentioned how weirdly the bowling ball moved in the previous version. So I improved the physics of how the ball moves and now it looks and acts much more like a real bowling ball. The ball even follows the grain of the floor boards! That did not happen in the previous game and I am embarrassed to admit it. I always strive for realism in my scenes as much a possible. I love physics but I have a lot to learn about how to simulate the real world in Algodoo. Math is the secret tool!
Another issue that the previous version had made the game very easy to get a perfect score (300 points) nearly every time you played it. You simply did not need to move the ball left or right. You just had to press the "up" key to launch the ball and all ten pins would drop! That may seem cool at first, but it very quickly became boring, and it wasn't something that you could brag about to others! Now during the first ball of each frame, the collision layers of the ball become randomized so that it only interacts with certain pins. During the second ball of each frame all the collision layers are set so that you can possibly mow down the remaining pins that were still standing. You can still possibly get a score of 300 but it will be much more difficult with this new version. |
