I'm a huge car person, and as such I tend to play a lot of racing games.
I really like Algodoo for making cars though since it's not only easy to make a simple car, but the amount of freedom and controllability is unprecedented.
The issue with Algodoo is that, in races, the other cars typically have to be going pretty slow or else they're going to get stuck (like in my old "AI" race scene!)
But, I had an idea!
What if I just run a time trial (and don't try very hard as to leave room for improvement) and somehow record said time trial?
With that being said, this scene takes that idea into effect.
These still aren't perfect recordings of cars (especially given the junkyard section since it only records the car, it looks like the cars are floating at times when in actuality they were just on top of junk that's in a different position now) but I'm quite happy with it!
These recordings have been made into these "ghost cars" that will always finish at the same times.
In this scene, you can of course use your own car (and I encourage you to do so), but today, your sponsor has provided you with this pink and white rally car known as the Tachyon with number 57 (a very special number to me!)
There's another Tachyon in the race -- it finishes in 2nd place by default!
Tachyon controls:
A - Reverse gear
D - Accelerate
S - Brake
Q - Toggle between automatic and manual gearbox mode
1-9 - Select gear (in manual)
C - Disconnect differential (not realistic but meh
)
Note that, while in manual mode, the dashboard will say "M" before the gear.
The car drives in Automatic mode by default.
To start the race, drive the car underneath the laser in the starting line to start the countdown.
The other racers will begin driving once the countdown finishes.
You can wait for the race to officially begin, or be sneaky and get a head start! It's up to you.
I included a range of different cars in this scene for variety -- from an old hot rod to a futuristic hovercar.
I highly doubt anyone to get 1st place in the Tachyon solely because of the hovercar -- but I'm willing to be proven wrong!
I had a lot of fun making this scene and I hope you have fun racing me!
I might work on this "recorder" further and perhaps make another scene about it in the future.
