Could you please provide one or two examples of real-world applications (with links or photos of them)? I usually have a better chance of understanding a simulated mechanical device if I can relate it to something IRL. Thanks!

No, although the 3-2-1 Locating Principle is well known, I don't know of any devices that use the principle for 6 axis adjustment.
