Lately I've been playing around with different kinds of engines!

A few days ago, I created an engine that utilizes a hidden feature axles have called HingeConstant.
HingeConstant controls how tight the axle is. Low HingeConstant results in an axle that acts quite springy (in fact, the suspension for most of my cars use HingeConstant rather than springs!) and high HingeConstant results in what's basically a regular axle.

This engine switches between high and low HingeConstant to spin a crankshaft, and thus generating torque!


I put the engine inside of this car which I'm not very proud of, but it works.

The engine is controlled with WASD. An interesting side effect of how I made the engine is that it has less speed backwards than forwards! (This car has no gearbox -- the engine itself rotates backwards for reverse.)

This car is a lot faster than my bug-powered vehicles (speaking of which, I also made a dune buggy using a similar engine that looks similar to my bug-powered buggy!) and is better suited for offroading or just silly stuff in general, like driving for 2 hours straight on a flat map to experience floating point precision errors in all of their magnificent glory.
