~~~~~~~ 2048 Merge Bowl! ~~~~~~~
A not-so-unique but extremely fun remake of a popular game! Since SpineSalad published their game before mine, I will credit them, go play their scene! (it's a merge game where instead of 2048 tiles, it's different-textured balls)
HELLO I AM BACK EVERYONE!!! The goal of this game is to get a 2048 in the bowl. If you run out of all your lives (by numbers floating out of the bowl), then you lose and you have to restart. This game also has more features, such as the multiplication tile, highest block removal, and an actually well-made win screen for once
~~~~~ How to Play? ~~~~~
You use your left and right arrow keys, and click spawn to spawn the tile shown in "Next Tiles"
Don't overfill the bowl, as that drains lives! Also, lots of merges may make things bounce due to all the collisions, so be careful...
The game gets pretty intuitive as you go on.

- Suggestion you can make: Should I remove not spawning the 2-multiply tile when your highest number is 1024 (near-miss)?

~~~~~ History ~~~~~
saw 2048 and a big bowl, and decided to make the game :)
have fun!!!
Update 1: Added Down-arrow to Spawn feature (Suggested by @Xray)
Update 2: Added EASY MODE and updated the thumbnail ':D
(Q) How far did you get?
I don't understand how to "aim" the spawner. I mean what determines which number block I should aim my next spawned block at? :huh:
1024 was my best... for now...
I think you should remove the multiply 2x when your highest is 1024, because its a pretty huge skip when you are already (Probably, due to the low chance) getting skips to higher numbers.
Pretty cool game. It looks a bit like the Suika game but in the same time not. Hope nothing goes nuclear like in this video.
Edit : u need to find a way to avoid people just dragging the boxes where they want. like putting them in another layer or idk...
I got to 256 and lose, because I was kind of just playing around. Now you made me want to analyze the SPAWN button hover effect... ... btw I'm making parkour 2.0 about to be finished
I also have a question. All objects in all your scenes have thick borders. How did you do that?
just got to 1024 but i lost the last live
WOAH, that's a lot of comments. I will respond to them all:
Xray - your left and right arrow keys. The red triangle thing is where the next tile spawns.
Cool_S - that feature is already a thing! 2x tiles don't spawn when you have a 1024.
KGameX - Alright, this scene was made to be really easy to cheat but will add anticheat soon
PizzaGuy22 - By changing the app.borderwidth variable. This game is kind of difficult when you reach 1024, but the win screen is more worth it
Made the blocks undraggable!
P.S. You can import the blocks as a Component, put them in another scene, and they still work.
Fun Fact :
I tried combining two "X" blocks together but my Algodoo just imploded :lol:
KGameX - LOL
42flowermaster -- I know how to use the arrow keys and I know how to spawn the blocks, but what I was asking was What Do I Aim At When Spawning The Boxes? For example, let's say the next box to spawn is a number 2. What determines if I want to drop it on an 8 box or on a 16 box? That's what I don't get.
Xray - You can aim it at anywhere you want - that's the whole strategy. You look at your "Next Tiles" and _you_ decide whether you want to place it somewhere. The thing is, you can't pass, you have to place it somewhere.
Things that may guide your decision of where to place it:
- Blocks with equal value merge to 2x that value
- Blocks with unequal value don't merge
- The goal is to get 2048
- A block with "X" on it automatically makes the block it touches have 2x the value
Have fun!
Okay, now I get it. THANKS!
Suggestion: I find the game a little awkward to play because of the fact that it requires two hands, one to spawn the blocks with the mouse, and the other hand to move the red triangle. Of course the player can use one hand by moving back and forth between the mouse and the arrow keys but that's also awkward. My suggestion is to use the Down Arrow key to spawn the number blocks. Then a player has all the controls in one location and can be played with one hand!
Other than that, the game is EXCELLENT!
Xray - Thanks! I did add the down arrow function now, so you can play the game one-handed.
Awesome!
42flowermaster thank you so much for telling me how to change the border thickness!
PizzaGuy22 - you're welcome!
I have a suggestion since I have been trying to get 2048 for about a few hours now and haven't gotten it once. Should I add a "bomb" tile that has a small range but eliminates all blocks that have number <16 (the annoying ones) in the range of it?
Also, WILL add a button for Easy Mode.
Yes you must. but how did you make the blocks undraggable?
By setting `tools.dragtool.strength` to 1 (if you set it to 0, it has some unexpected behavior). When the simulation is paused, it sets it back to 10000000.
42flowermaster bro you're algodoo mastermind bro
PizzaGuy22 - thanks :)
tfw the blocks merge and send a small one flying out and you lose
a_bored_coder - short answer: physics :y :y :y :y
Bug (that I will fix if anyone else mentions it)
Pressing the down key (shortcut for spawn block) toggles easy mode really fast, which invalidates the run.
I like the idea, and I never saw a 2048 with a bowl like this, but I'm a bit bummed at how much of a lottery you made it be. Blocks fly out of the bowl almost entirely unpredictably, and your only way to have a chance to avoid that is by keeping it rather empty, which is not always possible (and it will still happen - i made a chain reaction of 4 or 5 blocks, and two flew out of the half empty bowl). something strange going on with the X blocks, i got 4 in a row. and I couldn't find an explanation anywhere on what "easy mode" does, or why it gets toggled by the down key (i guess that's a bug?).
last thing, the next block indicator is way out of view from the bowl, think about Tetris where the next piece shows up right beside the game screen. Hell, you could easily just spawn the block and keep it stuck to the "spawner" by making its pos equal to the spawner's pos, until you hit down or click, then unclamp it. Then the spawner would be the next block indicator, which is arguably the best choice for this imo.
The Linkage - I tried to fix the exploding block problem, but it's just too hard (but I'm too lazy to fix the down arrow bug) Thanks for the feedback! I will post an updated version later today with the down arrow bug fixed. :)
