Krakenschrauben (Kraken screws) are the result of an interesting experiment. Basically, imagine a curveball that runs in a circle every full rotation of the ball. This is that, plus gravity, of course.
UPD: particles now rotate their velocity instead of adding an impulse to it, and made the sim bounds bigger, added trails.
