This was the chain driven prototype of my mountain bike

I abandoned having it chain driven as the density/weight required to stop the chain being stretchy ruined the dynamics of the bike when in the air/on rough ground/breaking/manualing etc.

The chain drive is complete with a freewheel system, i.e. it allows the bike to continue moving when you stop pedaling without the pedals being forced to continue turning... badly explained... Imagine rolling down a hill on your bike, you`re not pedaling, the freewheel allows the back wheel to spin without the pedals having to... its a ratchet thing... does a clicky noise... clicky geary thingy wotsit... errr yeah... you probably know
